Playing in an ensemble improves sight-reading, ensemble skills, confidence, as well as basics such as rhythm and intonation. In addition to improving or adding a new set of skills to your cello playing, it is also just a fun way of making music with other like-minded cellists. Music is meant to be shared!
The cello ensemble meets for weekly rehearsals. Atmosphere is friendly and casual, with repertoire chosen to suit the level of the ensemble. Music selections vary from Bizet Carmen, to Borodin Polovetsian Dances, to Bach chorales, to the Beatles! Cello Ensembles perform throughout the year in relaxed performance venues, such as Cello Café at Fromagerie Elgin, music at Market Square, or visits to the Elizabeth Centre to the appreciative seniors.
